Cornwall Motorbikes is an independent, family-run motorcycle dealership founded by lifelong enthusiasts and close friends Alan Tutte and Alex Craven.
Together, Alan and Alex bring more than 60 years of motorcycling experience and over 50 years’ combined experience across the motor trade, automotive finance and related sectors.
Today, the business brings together two families, with Alan’s son Ben at the heart of the day-to-day operation and Alex’s wife Jenny supporting the business behind the scenes.
ENTHUSIASTS FIRST
Motorcycles have been a lifelong interest for both Alan and Alex. Cornwall Motorbikes was created to combine that enthusiasm with their experience of buying, assessing and presenting specialist vehicles.
We understand that choosing a motorcycle is rarely a purely practical decision. The right bike should excite you every time you see it, while also giving you confidence in its condition, history and preparation.
That principle shapes the motorcycles we buy, the standards we apply and the way we look after our customers.
ALAN TUTTE
Alan’s first career was in engineering, joining the Merchant Navy after college to train as a Marine Engineering Officer. Engineering has remained an enduring interest and continues to shape his practical appreciation of cars and motorcycles.
After retraining, Alan joined NWS Bank Plc in 1987 and progressed to become one of the country’s leading branch managers. He later helped establish a successful asset-finance brokerage before founding Ignition Credit PLC in Cornwall in 2005. Ignition was successfully sold in 2015, and Alan subsequently established CapInvest to continue supporting his long-standing client base.
A lifelong car and motorcycle enthusiast, Alan combines engineering insight with extensive experience in banking, automotive finance and business.
ALEX CRAVEN
Alex’s enthusiasm for performance vehicles has been shaped by an extensive career in motorsport.
He won the F3 Cup National Championship in 2013, tested Formula Two machinery and achieved podium finishes in the Le Mans Series driving sports prototypes. His experience extends from GT's and other production-based racing cars to single-seaters, 24-hour endurance races and competition at the Nürburgring.
Alongside motorsport, Alex has enjoyed a successful career in investment, spanning both public and private equity. This combination of commercial experience and competitive motorsport brings a detailed, analytical approach to motorcycle selection, preparation and presentation.
BEN TUTTE
Ben is the glue that connects the different parts of the business and keeps the day-to-day operation moving.
A keen motorcyclist and genuine car enthusiast, he works front and centre across the businesses—supporting customers, managing vehicles and coordinating the practical details involved in preparing, presenting and handing them over.
His hands-on approach, enthusiasm and easy manner make him a familiar and approachable point of contact throughout the buying and selling process.
JENNY CRAVEN
Jenny enjoyed a successful career in property, including managing a significant property portfolio across South West London.
Today, she provides essential administrative and back-office support across the businesses, helping ensure that the organisation and documentation behind each transaction are handled properly.
Alongside being a mum to three daughters, Jenny remains a true petrolhead with a genuine enthusiasm for cars and motorcycles.
CAREFULLY SELECTED AND PROPERLY PREPARED
We would rather offer a considered selection of good motorcycles than fill the showroom simply for the sake of numbers.
Every bike is selected individually, with close attention paid to its condition, provenance, mileage and service history. Each motorcycle then undergoes our comprehensive 120-point inspection and preparation process before being offered for sale.
Our aim is simple: well-chosen, well-presented motorcycles at sensible prices.
